Detroit Fire Fighters Association Endorses Bill Schuette for Governor

Fire fighters join the Detroit Police Officers Association in supporting Schuette in 2018

MACKINAC ISLAND— The Bill Schuette for Governor campaign today announced that Attorney General Bill Schuette has been endorsed for governor by the Detroit Fire Fighters Association (DFFA).

“When we considered who would be a true champion for the men and women risking their lives every day to protect families, the choice was clear. The Detroit Fire Fighters Association endorses Bill Schuette for governor,” said Mike Nevin, president the DFFA.

The DFFA, which represents more than 1,200 firefighters and EMS workers who fight fires and respond to all medical emergencies, was chartered in 1933 to maintain the fair, equitable and just treatment of men and women who put their lives on the line to fight fires and protect City of Detroit residents.

“Members of the Detroit Fire Fighters Association serve families on the very front lines of government’s primary responsibility: public safety,” said Schuette.  “I stand with them as they work to protect the public and I am honored they will stand with me as I run to be Michigan’s next governor.”

Attorney General Bill Schuette is a supporter of public safety officials in Detroit and across Michigan. Schuette successfully prosecuted a man who made online terror threats against Detroit police officers, pushed for a new law that keeps repeat violent offenders behind bars and out of neighborhoods, and fought in court for public safety pensions during the Detroit bankruptcy proceedings.

Schuette, Michigan’s chief law enforcement officer, also has received the endorsements of many other public safety officials, including 43 county prosecutors, 43 county sheriffs, the Police Officers Association of Michigan, and the Detroit Police Officers Association.
